100th post!

99 posts about random moments of motherhood, family life, and other news from our nest....Today I write my 100th post about something a little different.


A shaking in the nest...  


Life has brought us one of those "transitions." Next Sunday, the 23rd will be our last Sunday at Pikeville Church.  And today, our church family expressed their love toward us along with our pastor and his wife.  What a special time.  From the words of affirmation, the beautiful plaque, to the memorable slideshow and wonderful time of fellowship...we feel loved as we sit in our home on this Sunday afternoon.  We have come to know some special people over the last 10 years. Just today, I'm guessing 10-12 people came and grabbed a baby from mine or Dolan's arms just to help out and give us a free hand to....go grab another of our babies or to get in line to fill our plates with the yummy food.  Not sure how many hugs we received or gave out....bunches! 


Savannah has spent many hours in this church and truly feels right at home when we are there.  Just ask anyone who lingers on Sunday after service....Savannah can usually be found walking (running) around the worship center, exploring the many exciting instruments on stage, attempting to climb onto the camera platforms, carrying around candy given to her from Mr. Don.  She loves church.  A few nights ago, over dinner, the time came to share with her our upcoming change.  She responded well, asked questions, and continued eating her blueberry pancakes. (had a breakfast supper!) I know she will miss Pikeville Church...her class, her friends, the many people who love her and have watched her grow from infancy to a lively 3 1/2 year old...  We pray that wherever God leads us, she along with her brothers, will make friendships and meet people as special as those at PC.      


Dolan and I have been a part of this church for 10 years over which we've made lots of friends and even more memories.  This is what we've known in our short married life and tomorrow seems a bit unclear. Our nest is a bit shaken and our faith put to the test, but we surrender all and ask of our God this...

So, for my 100th post...we begin a new journey...praying that the paths of those we have come to love so dearly will cross ours regularly in the days, months, and years ahead.  


And Lord, we give you our tomorrow.  
   

First Awards Night at Church

Wednesday night was "Award's Night" at our church. An event held once a year to celebrate what the children/youth have learned and recognize their accomplishments.  This was exciting for Dolan and me since we were able to celebrate the event with Savannah for the first time!  I started talking to her in advance (a couple of days before) about the night and how she would be walking on the stage and how she would be receiving some awards.  After those conversations, she repeatedly asked me, "Mommy, am I gonna get woa-ards?" That is 2 syllables if you didn't know.  (*smile*)She was so excited!  

It's always so fun to watch the youngest class go up on the stage, and this year....our oldest was a part.  So, when Mrs. Susan gathered her "active" bunch of 3 year olds and walked up the steps, the waves began!  Savannah sees mommy...

And now, daddy!

Mrs. Susan asked them to say their current bible verse... Savannah's turn, "A friend loves ALL the time."  

What a fun night! So proud of miss savannah.  She loves church...and her sweet little friends (Kylie and Rachel).  

A new favorite!

OK, so if you didn't get that, it's the version of Jesus Messiah sung by a 3 year old who is just learning it and loving it! It's her new favorite!

Savannah heard this song on Sunday, by way of television in her class at church.  It was played while a young girl performed a drama during the main service. On the way home, she started singing parts of it, so we joined in!  Then, I remembered I had it in the CD player.  Well.......... now, we play CD 6, #1 ALL the time.  And my heart so swells to hear her singing along.  


Tonight, on the way home from church while the first verse was playing she says from the back, "Mommy, I want the Messiah one."  =) She's not too fond of the verses, but oh how she loves that chorus.  And you know what....I do too!  What a song!  And though my 3 year old may not understand everything she's singing, I believe those words are being printed on her heart.  


Thank you, father....for the faith of a child.

Mommy, Where You Are....There I Shall Be!

This was the state of our kitchen at approximately 5:30 Thursday when I was trying to cook dinner and feed the kids before VBS!! Nothing like making tacos with a little fella who finds so much joy in dumping crayons everywhere! Yes, that's his little head surveying the scene he just created....while he repeatedly mumbles, "uh-oh...uh-oh...uh-oh..."   

We were indeed late to VBS, but I can't place blame on little Noah.  It was just one of those afternoons. But a great night at Bible school! 

  

Noah particularly enjoyed the streamers!!

Mrs. Kristin White even let him have his very own backstage pass. He was the youngest ever..."bouncer in training."  So cute. 

And this was the last night of VBS....for us, that is.  Savannah was not feeling well Friday and we stayed in.  Looking forward to posting more pictures soon from the week! Lots of cute faces to show! =)

First Night of VBS!

Tonight was Savannah's first Vacation Bible School.  She didn't know what to expect.  But after arriving and getting her "backstage pass," the excitement began to build! She saw friends and had a great night learning, crafting, eating, singing....and being Savannah! =)

Many more fun nights to come...we're sure!  And hopefully, more photos too!
