Noah at One

Tonight, I am thinking about my little boy....Dolan "Noah." He turns one Saturday...WOW! How is that possible? I love him more today than when the doctor placed his almost 8 pound body on my chest July 10, 2009. How is that possible? I don't know, but I believe my love for him grows with each passing day. And I love every stage of his development. It's a joy to watch him. Above, you will see a few recent pictures taken of him. He's a happy child. Enjoy the slideshow!

A little too quiet

Today was a beautiful wedding day for some friends of ours from church. They are married now, the reception is over and I am sitting in my chair thinking it's a little too quiet in our house. Savannah is soundly sleeping...and Noah is.....on the way home with daddy. He spent his first night away last night with Dolan's mom and dad. We had such a busy weekend with the rehearsal and the all-day wedding events, we didn't want to expose him to all the hustle and bustle. So, it's a little more quiet now than I have become accustomed to. I'm finding out in moments like these just how much I love the sounds my children make. Those constant sounds of love, fear, frustration, hunger, play, laughter, sadness...and the one I'm missing right now...bedtime breathing. Noah can be heard breathing in his crib from the living room with the television on! Tonight, there is no tv and it is ever so quiet. Father, may I bask in these days of childhood noises, for I know that one day not too long from now, I'll wish for them back.

We are thankful for the great care Noah was in and did not worry one single moment about him! Family is such a gift and we are so grateful for the great one we have!

I would write more, but the sound of a garage door opening is beckoning me out of my chair and to the door! I'm off to get my hands on that little one and enjoy whatever sound he wants to make right now!

Storybook in the Spotlight!

I absolutely love this template! It's an 8X8 storybook. Family photos from the spring season. It's full of color and the pages are so pretty! Can't help but enjoy perusing this one. Had to share it. Click here to see the book!

Hot day = Library day

Today was just too hot to go out and play, so we packed up our "book bag", some sippy cups of water, and our library card and headed to the library! Savannah was excited and wanted me to find the Owl Babies book, first thing!!! This is a book we read many months ago, turned it in, and she has not since forgotten what a good read it is. So, while Savannah meandered the aisles of books, I was on an Owl Babies mission!

What a joy to watch her picking out books and "reading" them.

I wandered over to the "parent" section keeping an ear out for miss yellow who was one aisle over. The sounds of books sliding off metal shelves, some falling on the floor.... and pages turning let me know she was still just one aisle over. But it wasn't long before I was calling her name....then calling again. Not getting a response, I was on my feet to the end of the aisle where Noah was sitting patiently in his stroller. I looked both ways only to see her...........
---sitting beside a little boy on a comfy bench in a quiet corner. When I asked her what she was doing, she told me she liked his bookmark (notice on the left), so she sat beside him. Maybe she thought if she sat with him, he'd give it to her.....who knows?

As with any young 3 year old, this position didn't last long. She was up and looking for more books....and yes, she brought me the little boys bookmark. He was so engrossed in his book, he didn't notice. We kindly walked it back to him and placed it back beside his still leg.

Such a big girl picture! (We placed MANY books on the "put back" cart.)

After a bathroom trip, book checkout, and another bathroom trip....we were on our way back out into the heat to the car. Savannah plopped on this bench and I decided to try to get a shot of her and Noah when a sweet lady walking up said, "Would you like me to take a picture of all of you?" So here we are!

And here is little miss yellow with her....you guessed it, Owl Babies book.
We have already read it 3 times today! Sweet little story... Gotta love the library!
