School Days

Oh, how I love teaching these children.  But, OH some days it is so HARD! I have to keep reminding myself that they are only 4, 2, and almost 12 months! Every single day is different.  Actually, things can change in a matter of minutes here. We can go from 2 sitting at the table working on an activity and 1 on the floor playing with blocks....to one 4yo who is devastated that a 2yo marked on her paper followed by 2yo sweeping ALL crayons/markers on the floor in retaliation followed by a mommy asking 2yo to clean them followed by an hour of whining and "I caaaaaaannnnnn't"

For this very reason, school often carries over into other parts of our day...and I'm thankful for that.  Yes, we are doing reading lessons most nights around 8:30 in that little 4yo's room.  Trust me, she thinks it is soooooooo great!

And as for that little 2yo and 12 mo. old....well, they keep this mama hoppin!

Here's a peak into our school room during the week we learned the letter "E."

This is our makeshift flag because I can never remember to pick one up when we are out! I'm glad the kids don't mind! Savannah and Noah both are doing great on the "pledge of allegiance."

Give this little fella some scissors and he is occupied for at least 10 minutes! So proud of his "E" (and all of his Thomas the train stickers). =)
Lookin good, Savannah!

And there is always background noise, thanks to this little cutie.

Book Basket Baby! Quite the little sneak, he is. =) He sure does enjoy watching his brother and sister during school time.  Many mornings, I leave him in his high chair from breakfast and he just looks on with such adoration (or maybe it's just that he simply feels safe there...) =)

Thank you God for our three. They bless my heart every morning.

That's What I Love About Sundays

Morning worship at church as a family.
Home to lunch and naps.
Outside to enjoy the day.
Observing little creatures who dwell beneath our feet.
 Sidewalk chalk on the driveway.
 Puzzles? Outside? YES!
 Watching this little one play.
Laughing while these 2 scoop poop donated by a nearby dog.
And dispose of it amongst the cluster of trees. =)
Just checking on it... (kids are fascinated with poop!)
Pulling brothers in the red wagon.
Watch carefully while these 2 climb their favorite tree.

Take in the joy of this little baby.
...and the sadness of another. (he was frightened by a dog who ran through the yard)

 It's about simple things.
 It's about love.
That's what I love about Sundays.

In the Dentist's Chair

The time has come.  She's a big girl.  We must have a visit with the dentist.  We've been talking about this day for weeks to get her ready!  And today was the day! (Consequently, it is also "D" week in our little academy...Gotta love it when that happens.)

She was a BIG girl! Showed only a teensy bit of anxiety...and even that seems too big a word.  So, take a look at this first for Savannah...in the Dentist's chair!

She LOVED the reclining seat!!  Here she is all smiles (and if you listen closely, you'll hear the giggles too).

A pair of sunglasses may come with us next time! She did NOT like that light!

Oh, this was a delight! Kissing the "suctioner." (Probably not the correct term) She thought this was the funniest thing!

In comes the dentist...
who let her hold his TOOLS!
and who made her laugh when he asked her how many tongues she had!
1...2...3... Counting teeth!

Really proud of her!

And for being SO good...she was given a special goody bag and a gift certificate to pizza inn (which she SO wanted to use TODAY).

What little girl doesn't love some new jewels?
A happy girl! (With CLEAN teeth!)

Yes, it's just the dentist...But these are the moments that make me realize how precious life is.  These little "firsts." These milestones that prove over and over again, that children grow up. Fast. So, before I start crying over a post about the dentist, I'll wish you blessings and post.

Caring

We've been studying the letter "C" this week.  Caterpillars, Cars, and Caring are a few of our favorite words.

Today, while doing the dishes, I said to Savannah: "Practice writing your name on your tracing sheet and I have a pack of smarties waiting for you!  And Noah, if you'll draw mommy a picture, I'll give you a pack too!"  (Some might call this...*gasp*...bribery....and SO WRONG! But my kids happen to LOVE it when this occasionally occurs, so we go with it!)

Back to the smarties...After offering Noah a pack, Savannah says, "Awwww...mommy that's caring! You're showing caring!"  Well thank you very much, Savannah.  Oh, and your name looks lovely!

Savannah's Special Book

Does this excite any of you?  I think I could identify a Heritage Makers box 10 yards away!  Inside this one....Savannah's special book.  You've seen Noah's here, and today, Savannah's arrived!  Gladly, she was napping, so I could open it, proof it, and get it ready for her to see!!!
She was so excited to see her special book...all about her, ABC-style!

She LOVED the "F" page where there was a "funny face" picture of her!
And the "Grandparent" page was special too!

Totally worth all the glorious time spent! Have I mentioned I love Heritage Makers? =)

A Double Birthday

Click on collage for larger view

Here is just a glimpse of the fun as we celebrated Savannah's 4th and Noah's 2nd birthday's last Saturday! I hope to have more pics of all the family and friends who helped us celebrate. =) It was a wonderful day! Tacos and cupcakes (forgot the ice cream...found in the freezer later that night). Savannah received a bicycle and Noah, a wagon. And both were blessed with lots of other gifts as well. We are so thankful for our amazing family and friends. You all make these memories even sweeter. =)

Lots of love,
~k.
